Crankshaft

 

If you look closely at Fig. 8 you will see that the timing marks on the crankshaft are just to the left of the keyway. I believe that this may be an error in the Figure as many of Old Style Listers, LLC. engines are directly above the keyway in the 6 O-Clock position and 9:30 position on the camshaft this equals 11 teeth on the idler gear.

Camshaft Timing, The W. C. Andree  Way:

Turn the crankshaft so the flywheel keys are down and the piston is all the way up, next install the camshaft so the fuel pump lobe is pointing directly at the cam cover stud that is located at the11 O-Clock position. See pictures below:

    

Be sure you install the idler gear before you install the camshaft.
